The Eurasian lynx are in mating season. This normally laid back and easy going male is now actively marking and staking out his territory in a non aggressive way. Their gestation period is roughly 70 days. Despite its wide distribution throughout Europe and northern Asia, this largest of the lynx species is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching and depletion of prey. There is new activity afoot in the Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) habitat at the Queens Zoo as three cubs have made their public debut. The cubs, one male and two females, were born in May while the zoo was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
