KORLA PANDIT DAY: Today we celebrate John Roland Redd, an African-American man who successfully passed as an Indian musician from New Delhi in the 1950s. Redd, who went by Korla Pandit, took his secret to the grave in 1998 and is now celebrated posthumously as the first black entertainer to have his own TV show.
