There are 10 Amtrak stations in West Virginia and two routes that travel in the state: Capitol Limited and Cardinal. Both of these routes are long-distance, so rail service is limited, especially on the Cardinal route that allow operates three days each week.

If you have found your way to historic Bluefield via Rt. 460 and then Rt. 52 you must only stay on 52 west for a few hundred more yards. The Bluefield Train yard is a nice sight to see, but not one will constitute a long stop on your trip.

The Ridge Runner Train is located in the Bluefield City Park. Other activities at the park include the Ridge Runner Fun Zone playground, streams, walking and biking trails, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court, picnic tables and shelters, horse ring, and more. Hours of Operation:

The Ridgerunner Train normally runs starting in the Spring thru early Autumn (April - September) The start and end dates vary, depending on weather conditions and maintenance schedules. This coming year, (2019) the Ridgerunner Train will begin its operations on Sat April 6, 2019 and will closed late September/early October.
