The 90's was a very hopeful time socially & culturally and that is reflected in the art, music and films of the time. It was a rejection of the jaded greed of the 80's and the birth of the internet. I saw the turn represented in three major events: Columbine in 1999, 9/11 and the beginning of forever war, and the 2008 financial crash.

Jul 5, 2020 · I'd definitely call that 90s retrofuturism. It deals with a lot of that retrofuture stuff of the cyberpunk genre, but using tech that still looks like the middle of the 90s. The story is A+, the execution itself is more of a C+. Still, I highly recommend the movie.
