Thousands of people took to the streets in a national day of action to protest the Trump administration’s policies.
Protesters gathered on the side of the road at the intersection of highway 58 and 24 for "Good Trouble Lives On" protest.
"Folks nationwide are turning out for the anniversary of John Lewis's death to protest the Trump administration's attacks on civil liberties," said Alex Enyart, a local attorney who organized the protest. Enyart said that his work as a lawyer with occasional immigration cases has become more difficult since the Trump administration took power.
It just seems like our country is being led by an incapable madman, and the Republicans are just bowing down to him,” one protester said.
The July 17 protest in Green Bay was intended as a demonstration focused on civil rights. Protesters expressed anger and disgust more broadly.
Salem Police closed Summer Street NE at Marion Street just before 1 p.m. July 17 due to a protest happening at the Oregon State Capitol.
There are protests planned in over 1,600 cities across the country, including more than 70 events in New York state, according to a map on the Good Trouble website. Here's where Good Trouble protests are planned throughout the state: Rochester: Starting at the Liberty Pole in downtown, 5-7 p.m.
