For many, it's the final tune-up ahead of the last major on the PGA Tour's 2025 calendar. For others, Sunday in Scotland means the top three golfers not already in the British Open field will earn their way into some tee times at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
American Chris Gotterup will have an extended stay in the U.K. after winning the Scottish Open and earning a spot in next week's British Open.
Playing alongside fellow 54-hole co-leader Rory McIlroy in the final group of the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open, Gotterup closed in 4-under 66 to post 15-under 265 at The Renaissance Club, good for a two-stroke victory and 500 FedExCup points. It pays out $1,575,000 in prize money allocated from a purse of $9 million.
Rory McIlroy came within a whisker of his second Genesis Scottish Open title, but ultimately finished two strokes behind a surprising winner.

In his limited opportunities to close, Gotterup has shown himself more than capable. He has co-led/led twice after 54 holes in his TOUR career and won both events. He won the 2024 ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic by six shots. Gotterup is now 39th in the FedExCup.
