President Trump was surprised to see Texas governor Greg Abbott in the crowd at Capitol Hill after his inauguration.

The Trump White House will also be looking to Texas for some of its staffing. Paige Willey, communications director for Paxton, will join the White House as deputy assistant for economic policy and Ryan Baasch, associated deputy Attorney General, will be a special assistant for economic policy, according to Bloomberg.

All eyes were on Monday's presidential inauguration speech as Donald Trump became the 47th President of the United States of America.

Abbott’s appearance will come just a week after he joined other Republican governors around the nation at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

In a statement released on Monday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the U.S. flag should be displayed "especially on Inauguration Day."

The governor's order comes after Trump complained about the federal call for flags to be lowered in honor of former President Jimmy Carter's death.

Texas installs more buoys in the Rio Grande following the inauguration of now President Donald Trump Monday. The state first began putting buoys in the Rio Grande in 2023…to make it more difficult for people to cross the river.

New border buoys were placed along the Rio Grande on Monday. The Biden Administration previously sued Texas in an attempt to get the buoys removed. Governor Greg Abbott posted video of the buoys going into place.
