According to the Financial Times, xAI plans to spend $18 billion on expanding its compute infrastructure. The company trains its models using a supercomputer called Colossus that is located in Memphis. Earlier this year, Musk stated that xAI plans to increase the number of graphics cards in the system from 200,000 to 1 million.
AI, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, raised $5 billion in debt and $5 billion in equity. The funding will go towards xAI's efforts to build out its AI infrastructure and develop its Grok chatbot.
The AI chatbot Grok, which is produced by Elon Musk’s xAI, wrote numerous antisemitic social media posts Tuesday after the artificial intelligence company released a revamped version of it over the weekend. The posts ranged from alleging "patterns" about Jewish people to praising Hitler.
