Out of the media timeout, South Carolina closed the game on a 16-0 run to pull away from Vanderbilt. Gamecocks junior Chloe Kitts sparked the run with seven straight points for her team, part of a season-high 25-point outing. South Carolina moves on to the SEC semifinals while Vanderbilt awaits their seeding for the NCAA Tournament.

Vanderbilt women's basketball came within five points, but South Carolina ended the game with a 16-0 run to win the SEC Tournament quarterfinal.

This is unlikely to push Vanderbilt out of the NCAA Tournament completely. But the Commodores haven't looked in the last two games like a team that could put a scare into top seeds in March, and the problem becomes magnified if MJ Collins and Grant Huffman, who missed Saturday's game with injury, can't return soon.

The Lady Vols lost in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt, suffering a second loss to the Commodores this season for the first time in program history.
