Community members in South Carolina continue to rally around the family of 12-year-old Jaysen Carr, who died after being infected with an amoeba he contracted at Lake Murray.

The infection destroys brain tissue, which is why the infection is commonly referred to as a brain-eating amoeba.

Jaysen Carr, 12, died from a rare brain infection he reportedly contracted in Lake Murray. His funeral is being live-streamed from Columbia.
