President Donald Trump has threatened further sanctions against Russia if Vladimir Putin did not agree to negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, it has been reported. Trump said he was talking to Ukrainian president Volodymr Zelensky and that the U.S. president would have a conversation with the Russian president "very soon," Reuters reported.

A peace deal will likely be brokered in Ukraine this year, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said. Although his timescale has slipped, both Ukraine and Russia have indicated willing.
