The Horned Frogs were leading 62-51 midway through the fourth quarter when West Virginia ran off seven straight points, closing within 62-57 on Quinerly’s basket with 3:30 to go. But TCU managed three straight offensive rebounds at the other end to set up a 3 from Conner, and coach Mark Campbell’s team held on the rest of the way.

KANSAS CITY – No. 16 West Virginia shot 34.6% from the field in the first half and trailed by 15 at halftime before pulling within five entering the fourth quarter but the No. 8 TCU Horned Frogs (30-3) remained poised and held off the Mountaineers (24-7) to advance to the Big 12 Championship with a 71-65 win.

WVU entered the third quarter shooting 9 for 26, but made 8-of-16 shots over the first 10 minutes of the second half, including two treys from Jordan Harrison in the final 2:23 of the frame to cut the Mountaineer deficit to 52-47. The Horned Frogs scored the first five points of the fourth, which they began on a 10-3 spurt to create separation.
