After Houston recorded its highest single-day snowfall total since 1973 on Tuesday, the freezing temperatures that have gripped Southeast Texas this week reach a bone-chilling new low on Wednesday.

Heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain are spreading east across parts of the Florida panhandle and eastern Carolinas, closing roads and schools and grounding flights.
