Uecker, a catcher who played six seasons in the majors, began a a five decade career as an announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1971. Uecker, who was nicknamed "Mr. Baseball," came to El Paso in 1982 for an exhibition game between the minor league El Paso Diablos and the Brewers.

Bob Uecker, the voice of his hometown Milwaukee Brewers who after a short playing career earned the moniker “Mr. Baseball” and honors from the Hall of Fame, has died. He was 90. In a statement released Thursday by the Brewers,
