Brian Schottenheimer spoke highly of former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy during the 2025 NFL Combine on Thursday. McCarthy hired Schottenheimer to his staff as an offensive analyst in 2022.
Moving on from Mike McCarthy was met with mixed reviews from Dallas Cowboys fans. McCarthy was brought in to take the Cowboys on deep playoff runs and he finished with just one playoff win in five seasons at the helm.
If the Cowboys were to sign Harris, he would provide them with something they were missing last season: a short-yard situation running back. His 6-foot-1, 245-pound frame could help Dallas get into the end zone at the goal line more effectively, with every 2024 Cowboys running back proven ineffective in that area (three total rushing touchdowns).
The Dallas Cowboys have parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy ahead of the 2025 NFL season, with Brian Schottenheimer expected to replace him. Schottenheimer praises McCarthy's coaching and mentorship.
