President Trump said he sent a letter to the Iranian government seeking to negotiate a deal to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The White House did not release the letter or further describe its contents.

Iran says it would consider negotiations with the United States if talks were confined to concerns about the militarization of the country’s nuclear program.
