Lawmakers in Massachusetts are looking into possibly banning cellphones in schools across the state.There are more than half-a-dozen school proposals on Beacon Hill right now.Each one has a wide range of ideas and requests.

Claremore, and Rep. Chad Caldwell, R-Enid, worked for two years toward the passage of Senate Bill 139. The new law will require public school districts to limit student cellphone use during the school day ― from “bell to bell” — for the entire 2025-26 school year.

Senate President Karen E. Spilka planned to tell Boston-area business leaders on Wednesday that the idea has broad support and at least 18 other states have already passed laws limiting phone usage in schools.
