A gorilla at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has been euthanized after years of “continued medical deterioration.” The zoo announced that Nyati, a western lowland gorilla, was euthanized Tuesday. Nyati was born at Como in 2017 and diagnosed with Baylisascaris procyonis, a parasitic infection, in 2020.

Nyati was euthanized on Tuesday following what zoo officials say was “a significant decline in her quality of life due to long-term neurological complications.”
