Pope Francis is being treated for a respiratory tract infection at a Rome hospital after fighting a bout of bronchitis for several days, the Holy See’s press office said in a statement.

Pope Francis, who was admitted to a hospital in Rome for bronchitis, is in “fair” condition with a “respiratory tract infection,” the Vatican said Friday in what is the latest in a string of ailments that have raised concerns about the 88-year-old pontiff’s health.

Pope Francis has been hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Polyclinic to continue his ongoing treatment for bronchitis and to undergo tests.
