Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda, forecasters said Saturday. Fernand is the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and it comes on the heels of Hurricane Erin, which formed in a similar area on Aug. 15.

On the hurricane center’s official forecast track, the center of Fernand will pass well to the east of Bermuda on Monday and head toward the northern Atlantic. The hurricane center was also tracking a tropical wave that was poised to move into the Caribbean soon.

Erin has become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season with strong waves and rip currents possible along the East Coast of the United States as early as next week.
