Archaeologists were astonished to uncover hundreds of skeletons while excavating the grounds of a British university, which once hosted a medieval church demolished in the 1650s.
Hundreds of skeletons were recently uncovered by archaeologists while they were excavating a British university’s property – the discovery was a complete surprise.
However, outside the vaults, archaeologists uncovered about 150 post-medieval burials in the courtyard, and another 170 burials from an earlier period were found even deeper, according to the release.
