Immediately after the Chiefs knelt on the final play of the game to wrap up the win, Detroit safety Brian Branch was seen rejecting a handshake from Patrick Mahomes and approaching Kansas City wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster.
Justin Fields appeared to be knocked out as his teammates got into a brawl with the Panthers over a dirty hit.
On a running play, Smith-Schuster waited until Branch was parallel with him before knocking him to the ground. Smith-Schuster then stepped over Branch. The two appeared to exchange words after the play, though the situation did not escalate on that play.
Here’s what started the postgame brawl between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
Mahomes threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to Hollywood Brown, while adding another score on the ground. Jared Goff threw two touchdowns, one to Sam LaPorta and one to Jameson Williams, in the loss.
Cameras caught Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid moving two photographers out of the way during the post-game brawl with the Lions.
