I wanted to spruce up our deck while adding a touch of greenery so I decided to create a deck railing planter. I had some leftover cedar wood from a deck project, which was perfect for this project.

In a little under an hour, you can make this simple railing-mounted planter. All you need is some standard gutter parts.

Planter size and material must match your balcony’s structure. Narrow railings may not support large or heavy designs. Lightweight options work better for slim rails or open-sided balconies.
