Netflix’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery means that CNN will soon be under the management of an executive known for tough cost-cutting measures.
As part of the agreement, Netflix will take ownership of Warner Bros’ film and TV studios, in addition to HBO and HBO Max, giving the streamer access to popular franchises such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and the DC Universe. But what about the likes of CNN, HGTV, TLC, TBS, and TNT, all of which operate under the WBD banner?
Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of CNN, is officially up for sale. That means whoever buys WBD will not only take over the country’s largest entertainment powerhouse, but will also become the new owner of CNN itself.
