A top BCCI official confirmed that Bumrah's scan reports were okay but NCA left the final decision on Agarkar as Bumrah wasn't tested in a match situation.

The BCCI issued a statement, saying, "Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The Men's Selection Committee has named Harshit Rana as Bumrah's replacement."

Bumrah was not selected for India's 15-member squad for the marquee event. Harshit Rana was named as his replacement by the Men in Blue on Tuesday.

"We have picked the best team for the Champions Trophy. And I believe we will win the trophy. India have such a big bench strength, and I don't think it (Jasprit Bumrah's absence)

A report claims that NCA had declared Bumrah fit, but chief selector Ajit Agarkar did not want to take the risk on injuring him once again.
