West Nile virus found in Barnstable mosquitoes

Each summer and fall, Nebraskans become all too familiar with pesky mosquitoes. A bite from one of these pests can result not only in an annoying itch but also in potential exposure to the West Nile Virus.
The first positive test for West Nile virus this season was found in Suffolk County. County officials say the mosquito sample was collected in Nesconset on July 1. Most people bitten by an infected mosquito will suffer mild or no symptoms.
