Provo • On the first morning of last year’s NCAA Tournament, BYU went cold. A team that hoisted 32 threes a game, the second most in the country, looked perplexed as shot after shot clanked off the iron.

The last time No. 23 BYU basketball faced the Utah Utes, it was a completely different team. Following a 73-72 loss in overtime, BYU was 2-4 in the Big 12 and outside the NCAA tournament field. Coming into Saturday night, the Cougars had won 11 of its last 13 games and had one more box to check to cap off an incredible regular season.

BYU also held a 40-22 scoring advantage inside the paint. “It was another game where we had a hard time finding our rhythm,” Young told a KSL Radio network audience.
