The winter storm moving across the United States, bringing frigid temperatures to the East Coast, is causing some delays and cancellations in Hampton Roads. A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina from 5 p.

More orders are expected Tuesday amid fallout from his first moves, including his issuing pardons for more than a thousand rioters convicted in connection with the violent Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and his effort to end birthright citizenship.

Bitter cold is to be expected for the rest of the week, as well. Daily highs will be in the 20s through Wednesday, with early morning lows in the single digits to mid-teens.

A snowstorm is now forecast for the North Carolina Outer Banks with even the Wilmington area expected to see 5 inches of snow, officials said.

As residents around central North Carolina prepare for snow Tuesday night, the greatest threat for snow in the state will be along the coast.
