GREEN BAY — The winter storm muffled the sounds of city life enough for the message of Saturday's deportation protesters to echo off the buildings along Main Street: "Aquí estamos, y no los vamos." ("We're here, and we're not leaving.") It was accompanied by a chant in English of, "The people united will not be defeated."

The National Weather Service Green Bay forecast calls for 3 to 7 inches of snow on Saturday in a storm that will likely last 18 hours. The bulk of the snow is expected to fall between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday. The intensity of the snow will increase and decrease throughout the day, while strong winds and freezing rains are not expected.

A Winter Storm Warning was issued at about 3 a.m. Saturday and is in effect until 8 p.m. for Brown, Kewaunee and Shawano counties. The weather service shows a band of heavy snow along the State 29 corridor. Areas just north of that corridor and to the south of it are expected to get 4 to 6 inches.
