Asia-Pacific markets were set to open higher Tuesday, tracking gains on Wall Street that appeared to look past U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff campaign. Trump on Monday signed an order imposing 25% tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum into the U.S. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 traded 0.24% higher.

Asian economies are striving to avert Trump tariffs as they have hefty trade surpluses with the U.S. and levy much higher duties on imports from the country.

The Reserve Bank of India is set to conclude its policy meeting, where the central bank is expected to trim the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25%.

South Korea’s consumer price index for January rose 0.7% month on month and 2.2% annually, missing Reuters’ 1.97% estimate.
