Please accept this place for what it is. It's conservation land that resembles what the entire area looked like 400 years ago. The bison among all the other wildlife are special. The views of the sur…Full review by L8533VTchrisb

There is a dirt road shown on google earth call Antelope Island Road. Is this public access. What about the gravel pit road. I am looking to get to the West side and I can not hike or bike.

Haha. I TOOK that road. The one that is not the causeway. I’ll save you the trouble. It doesn’t get you to the island. After leaving civilization behind (in the form of a warehouse district, we bumped along paved roads that became dirt roads that eventually ended at a locked farmer’s gate to a field. We were in hysterics laughing by this time. Again, make sure you take THE correct road on the north end of the island. That road is worth the trip.
I have always wanted to go to the Great Salt Lake. However, is it possible for one to swim in the Great Salt Lake in the middle of June via the normal water temperature and the normal air temperature? Is it clean enough for one to swim, and does one actually float in the Great Salt Lake? How much time would you recommend for one to spend at Antelope Island State Park? Thanks!

Plan at least a half day at the park with two hours to swim. Yes you actually float and can swim near the boat docks or on the west side of the lake. However, June is a bit early for swimming since the water will be very cold. The snow run-off doesn't finish until the end of June. Also in late June you get the first hatches of the black fly which bites and makes being outside impossible. But a better attraction in June is to go see the Buffalo calves. The cows go to the mountains to calve and then come down near the Garr Ranch to feed. So if you want to stand the cold water go for it, but call the park to check and see if the black flies have hatched. if so forget it.
